MOUNT PLEASANT — The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge was closed briefly Friday morning following an accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle, police said.

Mount Pleasant police responded to the area of the northbound exit of the Ravenel Bridge at about 11 a.m. April 17.

EMS transported an adult man to a hospital from the area of West Coleman Boulevard and Patriots Point Road. The man’s condition was not disclosed in a statement from police.

Police have not released the identity of the pedestrian or the driver involved, and no information was available on what led up to the collision. It was not immediately clear whether any charges were being considered.

The bridge, which connects downtown Charleston to Mount Pleasant over the Cooper River, reopened after the scene was cleared. The Ravenel Bridge carries roughly 96,000 vehicles per day and includes Wonders’ Way, a shared bicycle and pedestrian path.
