ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle while walking her dog in the Santee area of Orangeburg County, according to authorities.

Orangeburg County Coroner Sean Fogle identified the victim as a 23-year-old from Maryland.

Officials said the incident occurred on April 3 near the Bradford Village area in Santee. According to reports, the victim was walking on the sidewalk when a driver pulled out and struck her.

She was initially transported to a hospital in Orangeburg before being transferred to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. The woman died from her injuries on April 7.

Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
